Brazil has a wide variety of precious stones and minerals that attract the attention of the industry and international consumers. According to Precious Brazil, a sectoral project developed by IBGM in partnership with ApexBrasil, the country is known for the diversity of colored gemstones present in its soil. Some of them stand out for their rarity, such as the Imperial Topaz and the Paraíba Tourmaline.
The most sought after gemstones
Emeralds, Aquamarines, Amethyst, Citrus and variations of Tourmalines are examples of stones found in Brazil. “From the quartz family, Amethyst is one of the most present stones in the Soledade industry, in Rio Grande do Sul. The city has become an international reference in the processing of minerals worked as decoration items and collection pieces”, explains Clarissa Maciel. , the project’s International Relations manager. And he adds: “From the same family, Brazilian Citrine stands out in the market for presenting warm tones, ranging from yellow to orange, delighting buyers at events abroad”.
In the interior of Minas Gerais, there is a large concentration of gemstone processing companies that supply the world jewelry industry. Teófilo Otoni and Governador Valadares bring together several family businesses that carry the Brazilian tradition of cutting precious stones. “In Ouro Preto, there is the only extraction of Imperial Topaz in the world, a stone that can come in multiple colors, such as orange, lilac, cherry red and yellow. In pink it is extremely rare” reveals the International Relations manager of Precious Brazil.
But it’s not just what Brazil offers that makes it so special in the sector. According to Clarissa “the way Brazilians present their stones is different. Over the years we have built an image of excellence in service, as diversity has led us to understand a wide range of precious stones. We understand a little bit of everything. principles that guide our positioning are the concepts Excellence, Expertise and Essence. Precious Brazil seeks to increasingly develop this self-knowledge, since the market already recognizes us in this way, so it is necessary that companies also see themselves as such and value these attributes” .
