Belmont Emeralds recognized for its pioneering practices in sustainable emerald mining in Minas Gerais

Belmont Emeralds, one of the global leaders in sustainable gemstone mining, has been announced as a finalist in two prominent categories at the prestigious Jewellery World Awards (JWA). The categories are “Manufacturing Innovation” and “Environmental Stewardship.”

The company is a participant in Precious Brazil, a sectoral project created by the Brazilian Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (IBGM) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), aimed at promoting Brazilian gem and jewelry companies abroad.

About the Jewellery World Awards

The Jewellery World Awards (JWA) is one of the most respected award programs in the jewelry industry, recognizing the innovators and leaders of the sector. Established in 2012 by Informa Markets Jewellery, the JWA celebrates innovation, best business practices, and excellence, regardless of the scale of operations, area of specialization, and geographical location.
The 2024 JWA sustainability awards recognize jewelry and gemstone companies that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the environmental, equality, inclusivity, and innovation agenda over the past three years. Candidates must provide substantial evidence of the effectiveness and impact of their sustainability initiatives, encompassing environmentally conscious processes, responsible sourcing, innovative technologies, and community empowerment.

The winners of the Jewellery World Awards will be announced in July 2024 and will receive their awards at the Jewellery and Gem World Hong Kong (JGW) Fair in September 2024. Additionally, both the winners and finalists will participate in a series of sustainability panels during JGW, where they will be able to share their experiences and innovative practices with an international audience.
